Hey, It’s that Webcomic

Well, would you look at that? White Noise actually updated!

Yeah, turns out this comic is NOT dead, oh no. I’m incapable of letting that happen. But my seemingly endless mental voyage has come to an end, and I return to you with a slightly better resolve.

I’m sorry for ditching. I have no excuse. But I’m back! And I’m practicing the craft so that I can get faster at this and not feel like each and every page is stripping my life away from me. If I can be like one of the greats and bust out an amazing page in 5 hours, well, there will be nothing left for me to angst over. I am no longer waiting for that day to come. I am working for it. *cracks knuckles*

So, I got a beautiful piece of fanart today from Aja, artist of the comic True Magic! Check it out. Males my heart soar, really. :D

That’s all I can think of at the moment. A lot happens in 4 months… Hmm. Oh! I got a Kindle for christmas! Yeeeeah, Kindle. Okay, maybe nothing happens in 4 months.

Y’know, this is a problem. I can never come up with anything to write here, never ever. Maybe I should pick a theme, like movie reviews, or tips of the day, or recommendations? Of course I spend all my free time reading fanfiction so I’d only have recommendations for that. (If you’re a Death Note fan who favors L, check out “Second Chances,” it’s like the greatest. THE GREATEST. I think I’ll do fanart.)

I must be a boring person… Any ideas peeps? What should I babble about here? Or is “Updated!!1!” all it needs?

  • I'm wondering if Mad Sniper isn't off playing Pokémon Black or White? I know I've been pretty hooked since it came out. Gotta catch 'em all ... especially since they're ALL new!

Hope all is well sniper ...
  • madsniper
Haha, I avoid video games like th plague because I know my own addictiveness! I'd stop sleeping all together! (That's not to say I don't really wish I could play, or that I've avoided farmville...)
  • Jade_icetiger
its Monday and i really need my fix!
  • Ezra
Thank the skies your inspiration is not dead. This is one of my favorite comics on the internet. I think you have one of the strongest plots I've seen out here. And I love the way you draw. As far as the blog, if you can't think of anything from your life, throw it off on one of your characters. Just something like "Wren is currently contemplating puppies..." would be dece. If you've been busy, say so. If you haven't, something to let us know this story is still in your thoughts, would be kind of fun. Movie/book reviews are always interesting. If you had great time at an interesting location, that would be cool to hear about. Or even if you had some great time alone at the coffee shop contemplating the mysteries of life. Radio silence for months at a time is about the only thing that's disheartening to your fans.
  • madsniper
Alright, thanks for the advice.^^ This is really something I need to get into the habit of doing. I just tend to feel like I have nothing worth offering that isn't the comic!
  • I squealed like a little girl when I saw this. Can't wait for more.
  • CyberSkull
I'm looking forward to what happens next to that guy… yeah.
  • Cogito
Glad to see this is still alive. ^_^
Reading through it, I quickly felt that this was one of the best webcomics I'd ever read. (There are very few that have a mostly serious [at the very least, compared to most WCs out there] tone, great art, and an engaging plot at the same time.)
I'd thought it dead when I saw how long ago the last update was, so now I'm really excited.
  • I really agree with Crypticorb about the blogging. Just tell us how you're doing and that you're still alive. I know that some of us were actually worried about YOU from your silence. As for myself, I wasn't worried about the comic so much as I was worried about you. How were YOU doing, were you okay and whatnot.
Basically, just blog about what's going on in your life. People will read it. ^.^

How is the Kindle, by the way? :3 I've been toying with the idea of getting an ereader, but I was leaning more toward the Nook. o3o

Welcome back snipes...good to see a new page from you. I was very excited to see the RSS had updated!

I understand about hitting those rough patches...so I'm glad you found some of your enjoyment in art again!
  • PluckyPooka
    Yay an update! ^_^

I'd be happy with just a post saying you updated. I also wouldn't mind a post just saying you're alive. Although you can feel free to talk about whatever you want. Ideas: thought/feeling on creating the comic, cool stuff you found, etc. I don't see any reason to limit yourself to a theme. If you have a lot of trouble coming up with ideas, you could try to privately journal your day and see what types of things you come up, then see if they would be something you would want to share.

I'd love to know how the printed version of book one is coming along. Given that is isn't done yet, there was obviously a snag somewhere. I'd be cool with just a "still working on it" post, but more details would be awesome.
  • yay! you are back. my insanity can stay in tacked. XD
  • Another thought re: blogging. You got that new Kindle for Christmas ... how do you like it? What do you not like about it? What are you reading and what's good and not so good about that?
  • Welcome back Sniper!!! Don't worry about the hiatus, I'd say you have a good, strong fan base that can handle it. And from the comments here (and on the comic), it looks like we're all pretty understanding of the need for a break every now & then.

As for what to blog about? Good question ... I started one recently (two whole posts so far!). My first was just a list, and review of some of my favorite web comics. Hmmm, now that you're back on, I may have to update my list ...
  • I was starting to worry about some kind of "Misery" style rabid-fan-kidnapping or something, good to see you're alive and well!
Anything up to and including the ingredients on the side of the serial box make for good blogging, from what I can tell. Babble is fine in my book.

Maybe other indy comics out there that are good? Give some spotlights on the ones you like?
I'm a n00b to the scene, and trying to play catchup on the good ones.^^

My favorites are Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire (fantasy, comedy), Girl Genius (mad science, comedy), and Zap! (sci-fi, comedy). They are the ones I buy books from.

Some others that aren't quite my thing, but I like enough to read:
Gunnerkrigg Court (science vs. magic, drama)
    Goblins (D&D, comedy)
Planes of Eldlor (fantasy, drama, not very far along)

If you end up liking Phoenix Requiem, the author has a finished comic, Inverloch. Phoenix Requiem is on its last volume.
  • crypticorb
Yeah, those are some good ones, I'm already following Goblins, and read Inverloch, but I've never seen the others, I'll check them out.

A few from my backlist (but still good ones) are The War of the Winds and What It Takes by the same author, The Meek, LackaDaisy, and Haru-Sari.
  • Thanks!
I'll have to check all of those out, quite a bit of a list there, bound to something I like in there lol.
  • PluckyPooka
I've been reading Haru-Sari. I don't love it, but it's interesting and the art is good.

I'll have to give the other ones a try. Thanks!
  • crypticorb
A few recommendations from my list of good ones, The Zombie Hunters, Pheonix Requiem, Earthsong, Romantically Apocalyptic, Red Moon Rising, Dead Winter, and Twokinds are all really well drawn, good plot comics.

If you want crazy humor, I recommend Cyanide & Happiness.
  • Dillon
    Make more.
  • taste the rainbow
HOORAY!!! YOU'RE BACK!! *does a happy dance*
  • Pangolins
I second all of the above.
  • crypticorb
I have an awesome idea, and I think you already know it.

Just post anything, anything at all, weekly, or biweekly, just to let us know whats going on in life, if theres gonna be a late page, if your sick, if you need specific art feedback or encouragement, anything.

This REALLY helps keep your webcomic alive, as your viewers will always swing by if theres something new on the page, even if it's just a post saying theres a delay.

Also, WELCOME BACK, WE MISSED YOU!!! ^_^
  • crypticorb
Holy crap, I got so excited that the main page blog updated that I forgot there was a new page! pffft...

You should change the icon for "Newest Page" to fit the new one.
  • Werewolfling
Not that boring, Snipes. I don't "adopt" boring people. So with the kindle . . . Are you converting fanfiction to e-book or are you just reading it on the 'puter?
  • Okay, so I woke up at around six today, and spent all of my time dicking around on the internet. Then, as I was scrolling through my bookmarks, I noticed White Noise and thought "Hey, I haven't checked that in weeks! Wouldn't it be cool if there was an update?"

And then there WAS. And effin Lawler was in it. Made my damn morning.

Oh, and if you're worried about people ragging on you for vanishing for four months... uh... well that might be justified. Internet people can be tetchy sometimes. But me? I'm just glad you're back!
  • An_OwlBear
holly hell a page, good to have you back
