I Think I Can Stop Traveling Now

Here’s your update! Sorry, it’s just a cover. >_>

So yeah, I went all over the place this month. Two anime conventions, one of which was the much beloved Anime Central. I also went to Mertle Beach with my family. The funny thing is, on the way back from both we drove through tornadoes!
Okay, so the one coming back from Acen wasn’t actually a tornado yet, but it was definitely a large, low, swirly dark mass over our heads on the highway, with little tendrilly bits pointing down. The sky just should not bulge down like that, it’s not right. It was kindof dissociative-break-inducing.
The one coming back from Mertle Beach was definitely a funnel cloud though. I was the only one in the car watching as the thing touch down about 50 yards from us, and I couldn’t quite get the words out to alert my family, but they got it eventually from the panicked pointing and ‘buh-buh-buh’s. The car was dead silent for the next 30 seconds while we watched the thing think about swirling, give up, and fade away. But holy shit, funnel cloud, like right there! It was pretty cool, after we were safe and done being horrified.

Anyway, so here’s the latest news about the printed books. I bought a small stack of them from my chosen printers, but most of them came with white edges on the pages (which confuses me, as all my pages had bleed). SOOOO I’m going to see about getting them reprinted. The printer’s working with me so I should get the replacements without trouble.^^ Though I have decided to go with offset printers after this. This means no buying them from the POD guys online, only me! Muahaha! Also, probably means I have to try a go at kickstarter to fund it… 0_o If any of you have any ideas on what I should offer to pledgers there, let me hear it!

    Whoa, cool and scary adventure with tornadoes there. =)

    You could offer Sketches of your chatbox people. (The personas in your chatbox are quite unique and interesting) You could also offer signed copies of the books, a special mention for big pledges, and… uhm… That's all I could think of from the top of my head.

    HUZZAH!!

    Glad to see you have returned from the land of tornados and conventions relatively unscathed.

    Also, I'm super enthused to see the comic up and running again. Any possible chance on a ever-other-week update or something?

    I would pledge for a sketch. Well, I'd pledge for nothing, but yeah… >.>

    “The funny thing.” THE FUNNY THING! Man, Snipes, I'm glad you're okay. Tangoing with tornadoes isn't the best pastime. XD Definitely sounds like an adventure.

    I don't know about Kickstarter all that much, but maybe have sketches or
    buttons available for different pledges. If I had more moneys, I'd
    definitely pledge for sketches. :D

    aw man, I knew you were at ACen.. Did you have a booth or were you just a regular con goer?

    Ah, the one on the way home from ACEN was prolly just a supercell. Besides, would I let you get killed by weather? (NEVER! I would bite weather first, I don't know how to do that, but I'd figure it out. ^_^)

    I offer anyone who gives Snipes a dollar a sketch of Wren being glomped by my puppy. Warn ya though, I suck at drawing people so Wren might not necessarily look like Wren . . . ~_~;;;;;

    You could give people the option to pledge enough for a copy of the book and send them a special edition with a sketch and/or signed.  Or if you wanted to go collectors route and offer a limited amount of a sketch series of the characters.

    or wallpapers for a dollar.  Lot's of people love wallpapers.  Wallpapers and buttons seem to bring people en masse….

    At least, the printer is working to fix the issue. It's still obnoxious though. Sounds like the printer doesn't have anyone doing quality check.

    As for ideas for kickstarter…
    * wallpaper (good for a $1 offering, a kickstart only wallpaper might entice more people to pledge.)
    * keychains and buttons
    * prints, signed
    * sketches
    * the book, signed
    * the book, signed with sketch (if you don't want to leave room in the book design for a sketch you could send along a piece of paper with a sketch. Girl Genius had bookplates that the artist sketched on)
    * digital copy of the book, if you are planning on making those.* if you hand sketch the pages, those might be good. I've seen those types of sketches from both Girl Genius and Zap for sale.

    If you do sketches, you may want to figure out how many would be reasonable for you to do and limit the number.

    Limited runs of any of the above would motivate people to  pledge instead of just waiting for it to appear in your store. (And people in general are attracted to limited/collector items.)

    I would definitely pledge for the book. I'd be willing to pay more for ones signed with a sketch. I might pledge for a print, but I'm pretty picky about prints, so it isn't very likely.

    Update more then three pages in six months. It's perfectly fine to have a hella slow update rate if your just doing the comic as a side hobby, but the reality is if you want to sell books it takes more then that.

    Screw pledging! I'm going to build a time machine and get my copy early! Well maybe I'll pledge as well. Just for the cool stuff, whatever that ends up to be. :P

    Oo wow Tornadoes! Glad you all made it out safe! As for printing for your books? Have you ever thought about going through- http://ka-blam.com/printing/fr... along of other webcomic artists such as Gina Briggs from Red String and I believe Kittyhawk from http://sgvy.com/ goes through them. They have never had any issues with them.

    Anyways glad to see your work being printed in books! Can't wait to see. Good luck!

    Oo Besides Matsuricon what other cons are you attending? I'll be at Glass City in the AA, Gencon, Matsuricon and looking into Youmacon and Anime Crossroads later this year.

    Speaking of other cons, you should totally go to Mechacon sometime. Since I'm totally on staff for that convention, now. :D It's in Louisiana.

    I like this idea a lot!
    But you'd have to get XXL shirts too, so I could get one. ^^;
    Largest ones in the store are XL. : (

    you could always offer more than 3 updates a year as incentive, love the story and art but the wait between updates is murder

    I would have bought a book were I a newcomer and didn't know what your update schedule was. As it stands, I wouldn't buy something from a series that I'm not certain will ever be completed. I hate having only a piece of a collection.

    Sorry. :
