Hiatus is over!

Hello everyone! As the title states, the hiatus is over and White Noise is back! Look, there’s a new page and everything! … I was trying to draw what is known as a Shiho-nage hold/takedown, and I fought with that drawing for a while before giving up. The important part is the expressions anyway!

So how long was that hiatus, eh? It was so long, it started before NNFB announced it was going on hiatus, and lasted until after it was on hiatus! It was so long, during that time I got a job, lost that job, got that same job back, and then lost it again! It was so long, just, whatever, it was long! But it’s over now, and if you all are willing to read some more, I’ll be posting them.^^ It’s time to get this darn thing underway!

A little while ago, I tried a month long polyphasic sleep experiment. I actually succeeded at it and everything! But I decided to forgo it for regular sleep, because while six 25 minute naps a day spaced over 4 hour cycles may sound feasible on paper, in reality it’s extremely inconvenient. I mean, if you have ANY friends who like to do things, it makes life extremely awkward. In any case, I’ll be trying biphasic instead soon.^^ Three hours at night and one 1.5 hour nap in the day sounds much more doable. Though convincing oneself to get up at 6am when there’s no obvious reason for doing so… is difficult.

    I had a friend who tried the polyphasic sleep thing once. It was… strange. We lived at a boarding school at the time, so we were used to just walking into each others' rooms at any time during the day, when suddenly he started putting up signs with “Shhhh, I'm sleeping until xx.xx time, please don't wake me.”
    He gave up eventually because of impracticality, just like you. Personally I like sleeping lots every night. =D
    Also, you got and lost the same job twice? How does that even? I don't even…

    I too had a friend who tried polyphasic sleep. . . during NaNoWriMo. BAD combination, led to him getting really sick. 

    So glad you're back! Bummer about the job drama, but it's really nice to see a page again. (Though I'd gotten so used to the site not updating that I looked at it two or three times without actually noticing the update. My brain is bad at looking for stuff. XD)

    Also, finally get to see well-rested Wren ninja. Too bad he ninja'd the wrong person.

    So glad you're back.
    I tried the polyphasic sleep for about a week, and gave it up for much the same reason. All the extra time is awesome, but there are some many times when a nap is just not convenient.

    The human body requires exactly 7.2 hours of sleep to work at optimum efficiancy… you only get 4.5 with that plan…

    Polyphasic sleep works much better if you're also skilled in meditation and you have access to soundtracks that use isochronic beats… I usually sleep for one 4 hour main stretch and usually one 1/2 – 1 hour stretch during the work week. I did do a year stretch of 3 hour main sleep period and one 45 minute min nap 6 days a week and one day with a 5 hour stretch….

    The point is to trick the body into getting more REM sleep. By sleeping the necessary 7.2 hours only 20% of that is REM sleep, but by dividing up your sleep cycle throughout the day and forcing your body to wake up after only an hour or so of sleep your body will start to adapt so REM sleep comes faster and you get more of it. REM sleep is what makes you feel well rested, so really while you may only be getting 4.5 hours of sleep almost all of it is REM sleep as opposed to the 1 1/2 – 2 hours you would get if you slept the night away.

    I'm so glad you're back, Sniper! Sorry to hear about your job, though. I was going to give polyphasic sleep a go, but in the end decided to wait until after I'm done studying, and hope I don't get a job that lasts 8 hours.

    So…. hiatus again is it? Your comic pretty much goes comatose after every update, which is really sad. Hope real life is treating you well and I'll still be snooping around until the next time…
