Heroes

Oh, Heroes. I've been watching this series religiously since it started long back before the writers block threw it into chaos. Every character is infuriatingly inconsistent and violently flippant, and every plot point flies by as fast as the writers are able to spew them forth without any acknowledgment of past occurances. It's like there's a team of writers assigned to every character, and they went off by themselves to come up with as many things for that character to do, and then they all got back together and attempted to sew all these ideas into one big amorphous quilt of EVIL, not throwing a single idea out and not giving any of them more than three seconds of screen time. Some ideas deserved more time. Some ideas were utterly pointless, like the hundreds of times somebody goes off to pout by themselves, gets a revelation out of no where, and comes back without making one bit of difference to the plot.
The writing for Hiro has been particularly painful. He was cute in the beginning, but he never developed, and he has spent this entire season being a whiny little punk and resenting the hell out of Ando for having powers in the two episodes where he didn't have them himself. No mind this man has stood by you throughout all your melodrama and childishness, and every reckless action taken in the name of "destiny". It becomes clear why future Ando zaps your butt. But anyway, in this latest episode, they actually manage to do something fairly interesting with his character. His powers have become harmful to him, and seem to be giving him a brain hemorrhage or something, resulting in bleeding from the nose or ear after each use. And of course he can't stop using them, not when it's the finale and big things are going down! So he collapses and several characters stay with him with the assurances that they'll call the ambulance, so that Noah will go off to deal with the plot. I was like "Holy crap, are they killing off Hiro?" That's the first time I've been interested in Hiro in any way since season one, which is bad because Hiro and Ando get a lot of screen time. Anyway, I kept waiting for them to come back on screen and resolve that bit of drama, but when they do, it's at the very end while everybody is together, burning a body. Hiro is there, wincing occasionally, but apparently fine. No ambulance, no dramatic brush with death, no information on what went down, nadda. I guess we were supposed to forget anything interesting was going on with the characters not involved in the plot.
And one more thing. In the beginning of an earlier season, a certain character dies and is brought back to life using Claire's blood. That same character died again this episode. No special blood resurrection. No mention of the fact that he'd been brought back from the dead once before, no explanation as to why it won't work this time even. Apparently we were supposed to forget this as well.
Well fine! I'll forget. I'll forget it all. I'm done. I'm taking my Mondays back and watching House. Humph!
So, I went to Furry Connection North this weekend. I have this wonderful costume of The Death of Rats (Terry Pratchet, look into it ^^) that I thought about wearing, but it's a skeleton, so I'm not sure it would count as furry... Anyway. This con was fun, as most are, very small and personable. There was one issue though, and that has to do with the bizarre rule they decided to institute in the Artist's Alley. We were not allowed to sell things that were pre-made. Only commission work done at the con. This posed a problem for many of the artists. I mean, what was the girl with the custom animal chocolates supposed to do? Make chocolate commissions? So anyway, this con had a bit of a black market going on, which is fitting, since it was speakeasy themed. ^^ As in, Lackadasy themed!

You may have noticed the tagboard colors have changed. That's because this site is very close to going live, peoples! Abandon DoomNstuff, all ye who are only here for the webcomic, as the webcomic, tagboard, and just about everything else will no longer be there in a few days.
