Famous Last Words

Well, I am kinda confused. White Noise has action, it has scifi, there are aliens and space ships. But mostly, there is ANGST. And pretty boys. So I am confused. Do I have mostly male readers or female readers?! Cuz I can't tell anymore! *_*

Let me know.^^ Please post (here! In the blog! Not in the tagboard! Don't make me take that thing down!) and let me know your age and gender. So I can get a better feel for what kind of merch I should be offering you guys. Or girls. Lemme know!

PS: Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!! *huz*

You should offer plush toys of every character in your store, but especially Lawler and Wren! ^_^
Seriously though, aim for unisex stuff, like posters and t-shirts.

Girl here! ^^ 21 years old...yeah, too old to be reading comics, i know...it's a clinical thing, i'm taking pills and having injections. :P Jokes aside, i'm not quite clear on why are you confused. I mean, what are you aiming for, girl readers or guys? Or you don't really know? :P
Either way, with WN you've managed to hit everything i like in a comic, the action, SF and angst, and personally i think it's going in the right direction. So i'm really looking forward to new pages and curious about how the story will develop. ^^ Cheers!

Thanks! I was just curious, really, not aiming for anybody in particular. Maybe people who like the kinda stories I like.^^ I did totally think I had mostly girls though. I'd love to have a fanbase cut down the middle.^^ But I'm not going to change the story if I have more one way or the other. The thing's already written save for minor details, there's no changing it now!

Well, it's only natural to have more girl fans, since you are a girl too and you are writing the comic the only way you can...the girl way, and having someone like Wren (a young, anime like, strong, genetically improved, fluffy tailed, good in hearth but sometimes unaware of his 'bad' actions, boy) in the story is only helping the situation. ^^

Personally, I haven't seen anything that would indicate that the comic would be more appealing to either gender. It's just plain, old-fashioned good story telling. And great artwork, too.

You've got another female reader here (I'll be nineteen in a couple of days if knowing the age group you're attracting helps). I really like the whole world you've made for this comic: it's good quality sci-fi, which is ridiculously hard to find nowadays.

I got a friend from school to start reading this as well, she is a little younger then me, so I guess I know I am not the youngest. I'm in 11th grade.

I would so buy a Winter plush if you get some. [Winter = my favorite]

Thanks everybody! Good to know! Kirara, the R rating is for language and violence, which this comic has had in spades so far and will have even more of in the future. Also it's a preemptive rating for future sexual content. Relationships need to start happening first for that to be there though.^^

People aren't as divided along gender or genre as we are led to believe. My husband loves daily-life dramas (YKK, Mana Khemia), and I prefer sci-fi and action. But he loved District 9, and I had to leave the theater after half an hour (it was good, but the realistic gore, and the fingernail...!!)

and right now your web-comic is just great, so really, don't change things. I don't mind all the pretty boys and all the things which appeal to the girls, or whatever you think appeals for the guys. (yes, sci-fi is cool, but girls like it too, no?)
anyhow, I don't see why you need to know who your readers are, as you're doing a great job as it is.
maybe for wallpapers ^_^ but that's about it.

I am a male. But if I tell you my age... I'd have to kill you. And I don't wanna kill Snipes, because then we'd get no updates D:

I've been reading this comic for somewhere over five and a half years now (It's hard to say when I started). I still get to the comic through doomnstuff.com, even though White Noise has its own domain now ^^

I'm actually glad and surprised that this comic has gone on for as long as it as, while other good ones have finished (Inverloch) or stopped altogether (Flatwood)... I guess that just goes to show how great you are :D

Well, really long post aside, I'd say you're doing just fine. I don't see any reason why you'd end up with a male or female bias, and I like the direction you're going. And yes, Wren has amazing hair :D

P.S. Am I the only one that was expecting "...and I'm a Cylon" at any moment while reading through all those posts?

I'm a female and I'm 30. Been reading comics since forever (from print based to web). I love the art and the story (I tend towards fantasy/scifi stories). I think what attracts me to certain webcomics is the art first then the story. But if the art is great but the story is boring, I tend to fall off after a while. I don't see that happening with WN though!
